You can use almost any kind of pendant, focal or jewelry finding to make kumihimo braiding projects. The technique is the same whether you are working with satin rattail cording, specialty ribbons or odd fibers.
Just add a few beads as you weave the project or use S-Lon cording with all beads to create absolutely stunning kumihimo braiding jewelry sets!
Copper Whimsy Beaded Kumihimo Jewelry Set
This beaded kumihimo necklace and earrings set is sure to turn a few heads each time it’s worn. Designed around a copper, gold and silver focal piece, the collar-length necklace reeks of whimsy and fun! Pewter findings and honey brown glass Japanese seed beads complete the fashionable look!
The easy kumihimo braiding project could also be made with all copper accent pieces, like extra-large round copper metal beads for the focal and copper spacers to join the seed bead ropes. Draw attention to the entire necklace with copper bead cones and clasp.
“…a land where you will eat food without scarcity, in which you will not lack anything; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills you can dig copper.” (Deuteronomy 8:9)
Kumihimo Braiding with Seed Beads
The Copper Whimsy project uses about 800 size 8-0 round seed beads. Stringing these beads by hand on eight strands of S-Lon cording can take hours; so it is best to use a bead spinner to do this task in just a few minutes!
