Before working on this soothing beaded kumihimo wristwatch, I was on a quest—a quest for REST. This was so very important to me because I had recently come to realize that REST eluded me because of a driven personality and a need to constantly strive to finish every kumihimo project I had in my stash!
I wanted every bead to perfectly fall into place as I manipulated the cords and the kumihimo projects to always work my way. Most of the time this happens to my satisfaction, but lately, I’ve found that the comfortable rhythm and excitement that comes from designing and braiding a new beaded kumihimo pattern is somehow elusive these days.
And since, my designs are the result of a creative gift from The Holy Spirit, it seems I may have stopped listening and waiting for His inspiration and have tried to do it all on my own. Well, no matter the cause, I’m tired of the stress and striving. l want the creative rest again that I’m accustomed to. I want my mind, will and emotions to be at REST and free from the anxiety and stress that accompanies what was once a subtle performance-based and driven way of approaching my work and art that has now emerged full-blown.
Finding REST Again with this Wristwatch Beaded Kumihimo Project
So, where should I look for it and how will I recognize it again when I find it? This beautiful wristwatch beaded kumihimo project reminded me of the source of my rest. It is found in God alone and apart from Him, I will always strive to do my art in my own strength and suffer anxiety and stress.
Jesus Christ says that REST is found in Him alone; and not only CAN I find rest, I can also enjoy its many blessings and rewards.
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (Matthew 11:28-29 – The Message Bible)
Now, take a look at this wristwatch. It is crafted with a rose-gold watch face, translucent pink glass leaf beads, forest green fire-polish beads, crystal drops, and rose-gold pip and metal beads.
These items were already in my bead stash so I did not have to dash out and buy more. It was just a matter of sitting quietly, praying and asking for guidance on what to do next and the inspiration simply began to flow.
The watch was started and completed in less than an hour—WITHOUT ANXIETY OR STRESS! I even had the copper jewelry findings and magnetic clasp to make it easy to put on and off. Now that’s TRUE REST! Not only a feeling of satisfaction; but one of awe as well—a fitting reminder that when I depend on Christ, He will make beautiful things through me with no sorrow added!
